Airline tickets are sold out before the start of the Eid journey. At least 1 month before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the low-cost air tickets are sold out. Apart from this, even if few tickets are available, they have to be purchased at least twice the price, several passengers of the airline have complained.
Airline tickets are sold out before the start of the Eid journey
Common passengers are unable to buy low-cost tickets even though Eid is almost two weeks away. This time, these tickets have been sold one to one and a half months ago, said the airline officials. At present, four airlines, both public and private, operate flights on seven domestic routes in the country. They are US Bangla, national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh, NovoAir and AirAstra. And the internal routes are – Dhaka-Syedpur, Dhaka-Rajshahi, Dhaka-Jesore, Dhaka-Chittagong, Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar, Dhaka-Sylhet and Dhaka-Barisal.
Among these internal routes, fares for routes other than Cox’s Bazar range from a minimum of Tk 3,400 to a maximum of Tk 10,000. However, even though there are still many days left before the start of the Eid holiday, the lowest price ticket of 3,400 taka has already been sold out. Because of this, passengers have to buy tickets for the same seat on the same flight for 8 thousand to 10 thousand taka.
Passengers have complained that the airlines are monopolizing the business. Basically, they want to make extra profit around the time of Eid. Taking advantage of the high demand for Eid trips. The demand of the general public is that the ticket price remains the same during the time of demand for tickets. They think that by doing this, as they will get benefits, the number of passengers of the airlines will also increase.
